Laura has recently been working on the preparation of a Sustainability Statement and accompanying Appraisal Plan, which has now been submitted in support of a residential and business development on the edge of Hodthorpe (Bolsover District Council). The scheme architect (Max Design of Doncaster) sought our advice in respect of a number of concerns that the Local Planning Authority had in relation to the sustainability of the site, specifically in terms of access and linkages.

Numerous options were tabled including the formation of an additional pedestrian access point into the site, however all options proved either unviable or unachievable. However, it is our view that the site benefits from good accessibility in its own right, being closely related to the public transport network and its close link with the neighbouring settlement of Whitwell, which offers a range of services, shops and community facilities.

By introducing an Appraisal Plan to accompany the Statement, we hope that it will provide local residents and Members of the Planning Committee with a clear visual representation of our assessment and aid in bringing forward a scheme which will help bolster the Council’s housing supply.
