Airedon Planning and Design is a town planning consultancy. We also have urban design capabilities which complement the town planning skills and help to ensure that proposals for sites and buildings are optimised for the benefit of the client.

Sarah Worthington

MPhil (EnvPI), MAUED, MRTPI

Director Sarah Worthington has over 20 years of planning experience. Sarah works across the full range of town planning services, from initial planning advice, planning applications, negotiation and Appeals.

Sarah has extensive knowledge of residential planning. She works on large-scale housing proposals, providing town planning input from inception through to grant of planning consent, including contributing to and managing the production of Environmental Impact Assessments. She also works on smaller housing projects for a range of different clients including Developers, Housing Associations, and private individuals. She has significant experience of housing development in Conservation Areas and relating to Listed Buildings, including both new-build properties and extensions to Listed Buildings. She has been an expert witness at a number of Planning Inquiries relating to residential development, and has also acted on behalf of clients at Hearings.

Sarah has worked on a wide range of commercial development over the years, including new offices; factories and warehouses ranging from small scale to large-scale proposals. She also has extensive knowledge of retail planning, having worked on numerous retail proposals from single supermarkets or retail stores through to out-of-centre retail parks and major City Centre redevelopment proposals. She also has wide experience of change-of-use applications together with detailed design considerations relating to lighting and signage in conservation areas or on Listed Buildings.

Based in Yorkshire, Sarah has worked on projects throughout England and Wales.

Laura Fern

BA(hons), DiP TP, MRTPI

Laura is a Director at Airedon Planning and Design.

She started her professional town planning career 7 years ago following her graduation from Newcastle University. She has worked for a wide range of both small and large private sector clients on residential, commercial, retail, leisure and equestrian/agricultural projects.

Laura also has valuable experience with both Green Belt land and other rural areas, and has regularly worked on projects involving Listed Buildings or within Conservation Areas.

She provides a wide range of professional services tailored to the individual client’s requirements, from initial planning advice and site appraisals, project management of a range of schemes, dealing with planning appeals, and undertaking retail impact and sequential site assessments. She has experience of acting on client’s behalf at Appeal Hearings.

During her post-graduate diploma, Laura chose to expand her knowledge and experience by studying Urban Design. She thoroughly enjoys using these skills to help landowners and developers add value to their schemes.
